My favorite is an old case with a green handle and a nylon sheath. Dicks steel to keep it sharp

I worked as a butcher in a slaughter kill plant for a few years. I made a living carrying knives and we sharpened our own. I prefer an electric knife for almost all fish except catfish over a couple pounds.

It is what it is.

So by that frame of logic, people who prefer using a power saw do so because they can't sharpen a handsaw. You afraid of power tools? Loud noises?

Guess I could say people who don’t prefer electric can’t catch enough fish to worry with it, lol. When your cleaning 30-40 fish at a time an electric knife comes in real handy.

I have worn out a dozen of the electric filet knives over the years fileting thousands of walleyes and crappies. The one that lasted the longest is the Rapala. But I haven't tried all brands.

I have fileted a lot of fish with a good sharp knife as well and I know how to keep a knife sharp. The one I use the most when I do not have electricity is the Chicago cutlery.

I have the Reel Flex knife by Outdoor edge, and it's darn good steel holds a great edge but the blade is too wide. I have heard the Bubba electric knife is amazing that will probably be my next one.

American Angler professional model is the only knife I've had last multiple years. I clean a lot of crappie probably 3000+ a year plus white bass and catfish. And a few carp and buffalo for trap bait.

What Charles said. Dexter Russell. I clean lots of fish , always go back to the white handle. Keep it sharp.

Maybe the electric knives have an advantage on the panfish like yellow perch and crappie, but I don’t clean many of them.

Fish all year, recreational and small gillnet rig. Clean lots of (black) Perch, trout, flounder, croaker, striped bass, sea bass.

Find a knife that fits you, and get comfortable and confident with it. I like the longer blade (9”) because I like flex.

John

I like both...if doing a handful of fish, just grab a regular knife and be done. Doing a bucket full the electric is nice.

For those of you that HATE electric knives, read this carefully! The op asked about ELECTRIC KNIVES, if you don't prefer one then disregard! I do appreciate some of your custom knives, but others just bash what the op is asking for NO reason! Rant over.
