I am planning to make a blanket out of red fox and raccoons. It will be about 48” x 72”. For those that have one, what would you recommend using as a backing? I’m thinking something like flannel, but wondered what others used. Is there anything you wish you knew before you made or had one made? If you have any pictures, they would be extremely helpful as well. Thanks in advance!

Go to a fabric store; kind of a weird experience since you will be the only guy in there. Tell one of the sales ladies there that you want some backing fabric that you might put on the back side of a quilt or something similar like a fur blanket. Black is always nice, some people prefer a satin like texture but it can be a little too slick and the blanket won't stay in place very well. Go look at what's available, that's about the best thing you can do.

I use synthetic batting against the leather than polar fleece as backing. It comes in a ton of colors and designs. Make sure it’s a “ anti pilling” fleece , especially if your going to use it as a blanket ,not so much if just a decorative piece. [Linked Image]
