So I am debating if I should get another tanned skunk to use for the sides of a fur hat or if I should buy 1-2 tanned winter weasels and use them as the side patterns and the tanned skunk I have right now as the top. But if you can think of any other good skunk combinations for a mountain man/Davy Crockett style hat, please let me know.

P.S. The skunk I currently have is too small to be used for the whole hat.
Also, I do have a place to purchase either one of the items listed above,

We have a very small skunk here.
This is a tailored hat made from 2 1/2 small skunks.
It is all fur including on the inside of the ear flaps.
Also keep in mind, the bellys on skunk cannot be used-the fur is too thin.

Or more skunks but going through the woods in the UP might be dangerous with those color choices. You have big ones up there just give it time you’ll catch a big one.

I've used both red and grey fox for side panels on skunk hats, really makes a unique hat.

Have also use spotted skunks for side panels to striped skunk as well.

Would think the ermine might be a tad thin to use for side panels though, not much to them really. might tear rather easily !

Your ideas might come up with a new seller, imagination is very creative if you let it go !!
