As good as muskrat in most cases. Very natural bait but seasonal and caught quite a few with gophers. But once deer hunting starts it seems they would prefer venison over pocket gophers but that migh not be the case in your area.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I never made bait or lure with gophers.

Seems to me like deer season gets coyote patterns harder to predict. LOTS of gut piles lying about. I never saw a need to switch to a different bait. If you get a good attractor in front of them they will work it in deer season too.

I guess I need to dig a little deeper then what I do. Sounds like its not a real positive thing. I know I have dumped pails full out it the brush during the summer months and put a camera on them. The only critter I didnt get a picture of was a coyote. I know food for critters change through out the season, just looking for something to do with the gophers. Thanks for the input.
