Hard wind around 20mph + from the southeast this morning
when we launched at Stony Creek which was a help as we
scudded downstream pulling traps and stowing stakes in an
orderly fashion so as not to create a tangle at the ramp.

The rats must have moved last night because out of 19 traps
we had set for the past two days we had four fired but empty
#160's, and four #1.5 Vic stoploss also fired and empty.

We also had 6 2XL-3XL rats nicely caught.

The joker was a nasty, and aggressive coon back foot pinched
in a #1.5 vic stoploss.

The rude creature charged us twice and tried to enter the boat presumably to
chew on walleyed's portly carcass and it took some creative jousting
with the tater rake to keep the would-be-boarder from completing
an unwanted entry into our vessel.

After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, the nasty coon
was sent on his way to make someone else's life miserable.

We decided to let the Colwell Pond sets on the Lakeview WMA
soak another day as a the brisk southwest wind would make
checking those traps by canoe today somewhat problematic.

Waiting for the rats to dry so we may skin, flesh, & stretch
them in preparation for marketing them for large cash dollars. LOL laugh

Stay tuned.

I've noticed that 22 of the 25 rats I caught In this ADC job were all males. Are you keeping track of the male to female ratio?

No Beav,

I don't care except that I am harvesting the male & female rat glands
to be sold for cash money !!

Otherwise, I don't really care.

Was out the door at 5:00AM this morning for
a real early start to get my traps pulled before
the wind came up on Colwell Pond.

Hooked up the canoe trailer, headed for the
diner in Pierrepont Manor for coffee & breakfast.

At 6:45AM we were paddling away from the launch
and already the southeast wind was already blowing.

7 traps to pull included 2 nice, big, plump, 2XL-3XL
rats with the last one suffering the final indignation
of having another rat drop a load of rat scat on his
back as he lay dead & immobilized in the #160.

With all traps aboard, we paddled back to the launch
against the wind to conclude our spring 2021 muskrat season.

Our final 2 rat catch is drying before the fans, and we'll
get them skinned, fleshed, and stretched this afternoon.

Then it's time to dismantle the floats, dye & wax the traps
we used this spring, and stow away everything for the summer.

Thanks for coming along on our rat line this spring.

LOL

But they are the bigger and better rats and they have glands. So It takes real skill to catch the better quality rats. And leave the females for seed. I'm farming these rats on these ADC jobs. LOL

We have to farm these rats In the Dane county park system. The one lagoon area Is probably 7 acres In size but we can only trap half of It. Part of the area Is a safe zone. And It's not a option it has to be that way or we don't get to trap at all.

So get over It North of 50.

You just admitted to leaving rats behind on purpose to breed when you were hired and paid to get rid of the problem.
Crooked,lol.

Did you read the post about not be able to trap the whole area. And your only allowed to trap for 3 days In the spring and 3 days In the fall. I play the cards I'm dealt no more no less.
