Other than using a hydrometer to test before and after, has anyone used an alcoholometer to test final content with any success? Reviews are mixed.

Unless I am mistaken, they only work well with dry wines.
Residual sugar interferes with their function.

Nelly nailed it. The devise is called a vinometer, but will not be accurate with any sugar content.
