Since I can't get a serious response on the other thread.....how does a person match the components to complete an 80% lower. Is each lower designed to accept a certain brand of components such as trigger assembly, barrel, etc.?

For the ar 15 almost everything on the market is mill spec and should all fit together.

All the parts, jigs tools come in most kits that I have seen most kits are over priced and not in stock.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

It should be the same as the ar, everything milspec. One of the requirements of the government when they initially purchased 1911s was to take 100 guns then strip them down to parts, toss all the parts into a barrel give it a few rolls to mix things up then reassemble the now mixed parts into 100 guns and have them function.

However, 110 years of copies and clones and most will agree some hand fitting may be required on "milspec" 1911 parts these days.

But hand fitting a 1911 isn't a hard thing. 110 years of fine tuning has built an entire industry of parts and jigs just for the 1911.

One warning though. 1911s are addictive and you can find a fixture or jig plus special files and stones for almost every possible part. It can add up quick.

Yes, my first gun was a plastic S&W .45, then a plastic Sig Sauer 9mm. Then I bought a Springfield 1911 in .45 from the ladyfriend as it was too much for her to handle. Now I have a real gun and she's eyeballing a 10mm Glock. I may end up with that too.

I bought an upper kit from Jason tactical, supposed to have everything I need to finish, it was about 840$, there are regular kits for about 600$

As others mentioned most ar's are mil spec, so you can find lower kits all over online and possibly in local gun shops. Some lower parts kits do not include the fire control group.

Buy an ar lower and a jig. Then buy a kit from palmetto state armory for $499. Comes with everything but lower.
