Ok. Question? Is their a way to use a propane water heater without ANY electricity?? Dont want one of those camping RV type tankless water heaters. It for my cabin. I am running all propane. SO. I need a water heater that I can run off a propane bottle. And light pilot with a match? Is this possible? Where do i buy one?

Why not tankless; just wondering?

I have a cabin remote with only battery or generator power and I've thought about something like this but the sauna is all I have.

Sure can. Just as long as it is not a power vent unit.

Heat rises if you had a water source above the heater that should heat water higher up or have a outside tank and heat it with a weed burner or other heat source maybe.

I don't know there is a water heater without some kind of power to run a thermostat other than a turkey fryer and a pot. How do you plan on getting the water from the heater to the shower?

This might help, I have one in a cabin on the property, uses propane and (2) d cell batteries to ignite the pilot, it's been in about a year and no problems

Old tank gas systems used an independant pilot and ignition and did not need electricity to work. You can still buy some like that, but you may have to shop around some.

There is no plug going to LP heaters that I have ever used. The pilot goes down to pilot light when the temp is reached a push button ignition lighter requires no electric a guy could light the burner with a BBQ lighter.

No power needed to the one I installed in my house in 2009. It replaced one that didn't need power either. The new one ignites by a snap switch that doesn't need electricity. The thermostat is independent, too. Got the new one at home depot. I thought all propane/gas water heaters were independent of any need for outside electricity. Unless, you have a remote thermostat, which I've never heard of.

I'm with Law Dog. I have a propane water heater in my house. It uses a push button striker to light the pilot. The pilot stays lit even without power. I also have a propane tankless at my camp and it uses D batteries for ignition so as long as I have water flow it works. It was very inexpensive as well.

I am just afraid, the 5 GPm type of D battery kind want have enough water pressure. And they all cut off = For safety at around 15 or 20 mins . So I would like to stay with propane that I could light. Then just blow out pilot light and turn off gas when I leave

Not knowing your set up so I’ll go with a primitive set up. A water source like a fuel tank upright should increase the pressure with a water heater below it so gravity feed, the more water the more pressure you would think also reducing the pipe might increase the pressure also as you get closer to the shower head.

Without constant water flow you would need to pump water up to the tank with a small generator and pump once full you would be good to go, if you have city water constant flow even better. You could tap hot off with a second faucet set up.

Thanks Law Dog Well dug was going to cost 7500 dollars plus I would have to use generator FOR well pump. So I am going to be on or in middle of 37 acre tract of land. Water line is on Old county dirt road. Will have to run line about 550 yards or so to cabin. So my guess is about 3000 dollars to get water to it
