Wind out of the N/W blowing hard took a tank of gas to go 150 miles Chamberlain to Wall SD that’s crazy. I pull into Deadwood it starts to snow so great a blizzard now, mostly the light snow blowing around. So I check into my motel and it’s midday I decide I will play a little slots they won’t be moving in this anyways.

Well that paid off I went for one machine to a different one if one cooled off I went to the other one, lots of bonuses. I got out in time to scout the road conditions where we hunt, at more snow then I figured foot deep ruts in the snow. It seemed fresh not packed by snowmobiles with some mud in place splashing up. Did see 2 vehicles with hunters in them along with 8 cow elk watching traffic go by in the shelter of a dip in the ditch by some trees.

Will see what shakes out in the AM should be a clear day tomorrow but windy just need to find a deep canyon to hunt.

Sounds like you needed a win at the casino just to pay for more gas

Typical for just about every trip I've made out there. I've called them in and taken them in over 6" before and it doesn't seem to affect them at all unless it's fogged in and really wet snow. I have learned that you can get them to gobble just about any time of night when it's clear and there is snow on the ground. One year we had about 6" the night before the opener and turkeys were gobbling their heads off 2 hours before daylight.

Trash your goals and plans for life. Just wing it and you'll never be let down!

Snow is not the issue now 20 MPH winds and overcast blizzard has the shut down, the wind let up this afternoon and I’m seeing hens now 4 today. The wind will be way down tomorrow they should fire up if not we may need to drop down to lower elevations before the weekend. Another thing that shuts them down is rain it a game killer.

Seen a yote crossing a opening today just watched him run.
