Assuming tesla hasn't sold off any of the 1.5B worth of Bitcoin...that purchase is up 42% And that is a perfect example of why I won't touch TSLA. Last year the company reported 64 cents of 'earnings'. Just based on that, and today's share price, you would be paying $1162 to buy one dollar's worth of earnings. That is a P/E ratio of 1162:1 Or using the current price you are paying $743.00 to buy 64 cents worth of earnings. But it gets worse than that. The 64 cents was NOT earned by building and selling cars. It was 'earned' by selling RIN's. A RIN is a Renewable Identification Number that is issued by the EPA to auto makers and refiners so that biofuels can be tracked. ( that reduces pollution dontcha know? ) Obviously Tesla's vehicles don't produce emissions so they are free to SELL those RIN's to refiners who need them to produce more ethanol type fuels . That is how TSLA makes their money at this point. Gaming a political system. That program might go away some day if sanity ever shows up again. The same is true of their Bitcoin investment. That could go to zero if the government ever decides it doesn't like the competition on issuing currency. Their cars might be great. I don't know. If I had to buy either the car or the stock, my choice would be neither........at this point.

Tesla, like it's namesake is a bit ahead of the time and people. I think tesla does have the attitude, willpower and cash to close that gap If they can get a good handle on the battery technology and the costs of producing it, then I agree they can possibly be a viable business. But at this price level I can't see how anyone could justify buying it. The price jump in the last two days is based on nothing more than an article comparing TSLA to AAPL. It's just my opinion but I don't think a company than isn't making money on its product, is anywhere near comparable to a trillion dollar company that provides stellar products and performance while making a lot of money doing so. Do we really believe that TSLA is comparable to AAPL ? I sure don't

Only apt comparison of tesla to apple at the moment is as a cult like following. Apples is much bigger and more obnoxious.
