Kind of in line with Sgt. C's thread on introvert/extrovert.

I have a friend who used to tell me about four personality traits that most everyone falls under. According to him...and I assume whoever he got it from...our makeup is based heavily on two of the four personality quadrants.

Amiable- easy to get along with

Analytical- overthinks things

Driver- I label this one as pushy

Expressive- loudmouth

My friend is a driver/expressive. He's pushy and you never have to wonder what he's thinking, he tells the world what's on his mind. He labeled me as amiable/analytical. He think's I'm a pushover who can't make a decision. I'm sure he is convinced a driver/expressive is where it's at.

I balked at this for the longest time thinking it was too convenient a way to pigeonhole someone but as time passed I began to think maybe there was something to it.

As for the analytical part. I was nervous to take an IQ test because I didn't want confirmation of what a dumbarse I am. Anyway, I mustered the courage to take a test and found myself in the 96th percentile of those tested for analytical thinking. Seems he was right about that and I couldn't wait to tell him the results. I think he wanted to send me a get well card.

What's your makeup?

That's how I used to view it.

I'm definitely analytical to the point of often not getting a project out of the planning stage and always have a few ideas bouncing around in my head. I'm also somewhat expressive, more so online where social filters don't apply.

The people in my Menza chapter tell me I'm not a smart man. Wish I was as smart as cabbage head Joe.

I might have watched that a week or two back. Are you referring to the implicit threat of violence men deal with. Something to that effect.

Posco, Agreeable people tend to be push overs as they don't like conflict. They always make concessions so everyone is happy. Disagreeable people are pushy and will kick, scratch and fight to have everything their way. There are different degrees to each trait. Some are worse than others.

I agree with that. I wasn't always the lover I am today, I think that's part of why I made an effort to become more amiable. As an analytical, I tend to think things through before engaging in whatever it might be that presents itself. That includes running my mouth.

All of these traits come with pluses and minuses, we need to be aware of what they are.
