They look like some nice clean ones, Nessie! I used to cast balls for my .72 caliber Trade Gun.
Moosetrot Yup....had to cast about 40 of them ...to get the mold hot...and the wrinkles out of the balls.

I'm using sheet lead guy gave me 300lb of it a couple of years ago, he was happy I took it off his hands. Figure that was a lifetime of muzzy balls. Use a hacksaw and cut it in strips to melt.

Nice! Just shooting them for fun or do you hunt with the roundballs as well? Both target and hunting

Nothing like the smell of lead..in the afternoon ! A buddy gave me a chunk of lead once, about 10 pounds worth. Nice and soft, could dent it with my thumbnail. Had a loop of wire sticking out of it. It was a nice day to cast so I set up the furnace out in the carport. Set the chunk of lead in the pot and turned it on... As it warmed up and began to melt down into the pot I was greeted with the smell of hot metal mixed with river muck... Gag! Guess someone had used it as a trotline weight. Glad I did it outside and not in the shop. Mike

Come to Pa. and you may have to log a few minutes in some areas to get meat. According to the deer population....Pa has NH out numbered ...16-1
