Speed dip does not penetrate. It is a coating like paint. I thin the it over recommendation. And dip often. Never used a pressure washer or a hose. BUT, I am a beaver trapper .

I've used a 50 / 50 mix of water and vinegar to loosen up rust on traps. Let them soak overnight, then take them out and hose them off. Soak them longer if you need, depending on the amount of rust you are dealing with.

Soak them longer if you need, depending on the amount of rust you are dealing with. I have a trap in an ice cream pail of 100% vinegar right now. 1 night did a pretty good job, but I'm debating about a 2nd night. I'll have to see how good vinegar cleans the coil springs. It's amazing the power of vinegar. I threw some rusty tools in with the trap, & some rusty fasteners like sleep easy hooks, and they came out nice. Water trapping sure is hard on those sleep EZ spring clips threads.
