Why do otter maintain a scent mound? I’ve only seen this in the spring and only found it because it appears like a beaver castor mound. They smell way different and and have very well defined entry/exit trails. Like they play in that area and re-scent the mound very frequently. With their vast territory, it leads me to think it’s about claiming a whelping spot??
