Seems strange that defending you and yours needs protection by law. Welcome to 2021. Ohio's stand your ground law just went into effect

I find it very encouraging that more states are passing constitutional carry, castle doctrine and stand your ground laws. It's almost like they're flipping off the federal government. The law is what the media says it is. I wouldn’t count on that one keeping you out of prison if you shoot someone. Pennsylvania's castle doctrine has been the deciding factor in a number of shooting cases that I am aware of. Mostly as a factor in the decision not to prosecute but also as a successful defense against overzealous prosecutors. A notable case happened about ten years ago when three teens (two 15 and one 16 year old) skipped school for a day of mugging. They mugged a couple before attacking a 65 year old on a bicycle trail. Knocked him off his bike and were pummeling him when he drew a licensed weapon and shot two of the attackers. One died, another was severely injured. The survivors were prosecuted. The shooting was ruled self-defense and justified under the castle doctrine.
Eh...wot?

I wish I could help you out but no reds. Due to market factors and other considerations I didn't trap last season for the first time in decades. I sold all my reds to a furrier at the end of the 2019-20 season.
I do have some coyote in cold storage. They are skinned with feet and toenails on for tanning.
Interested?

Interested? Nah. Just need reds to complete a project. Thanks anyway.

The law is what the media says it is. I wouldn’t count on that one keeping you out of prison if you shoot someone. God forbid I'm ever in the situation where I have to make that decision but having common sense laws that protect you is a good thing. This is fly over country the media don't much matter here. There's only two things you say to the police in that situation "I feared for my life and I want to speak to my attorney" anymore than that you're setting your self up for prosecution.. Oh, and thanks for the attempted highjacking of my thread...

Grumly you put it just like it should be. We have that law and even the officers when you discuss it with them will tell you to make the exact same response. They also point out don't shoot them in the back unless you are behind them and they are attacking someone else.

Don't trust it. It only works if you know someone in higher places. Might want to have a very good attorney. Eager prosecutors out there making a name for themselves at innocent law abiding citizens expense. Sarge
