Nope caribou protected here-we only have sporadic groups of woodland here.
It will kill a caribou no problem.
I have killed bears with that calibre no problem,I have not shot a moose with the 7.62x39 but I would not hesitate to shoot moose with it either at the right range.

It is similar ballistically to a 30 30.
Not a long range calibre.

I shoot a lot of beaver in the head with it.-Great beaver gun.

I dont hesitate to shoot bear with it out to 200 yards.

Thanks. I've seen them for sale on occasion and thought about one as a starter caribou rifle. Seems like a better option than our current .243. The 7.62x39 is one of the few chambers I still find ammo for nowadays, and the CZs seem to have wonderful triggers. 200yds would be plenty of range for what I have in mind.

Boco....does your government require you to keep that triggah guard on....while not in use ?


My understanding is, yes, it needs to have a trigger lock or be locked in a case in Ontario or you can be charged with un safe storage.

No model 512, but love my 550 in .308! Heavy barrel, Boyd’s stock . Set trigger option is great, really crisp. Great gun!
