It doesn't have doors, load and clean out from the eye on the top. No tags on it, homemade? Was thinking about getting it for the shed, but not sure now...

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Neat to see but wouldn't be for me. I like easier clean out with hot ashes and coals.

It's in great shape and thick heavy steel. I think other then being awkward to clean out it might be a good stove. Weird though, never seen vents like that.

Looks similar to one of an old woman that wanted to buy firewood, but wanted it no longer than 12 inches, I didn't take on that job. A local church put her a gas stove a couple years later.

A guy could always put a door on it.

I wonder if it was made to burn coal. Not charcoal but the real stuff, I think Id try it out outdoors before setting it all up in your trap shed.

Yep I bet you are right. The old woman I was talking about said she used to burn coal but we no longer had any nearby mines that would mess with anyone getting coal.

Catch, you sure it's steel? Most of those old stoves were cast iron, and if you had a crack or broken spot, they're about impossible to fix!

Good question Lee. It's about a hour from me and the people said it was steel but you may be right!!

some of the old timers say they used corn cobs for heat/cooking. Couldn't afford coal....

If it is metal, there is a way to fix it. Sorry Lee!

I have heated my house with a top loader like that for years. Have one in our cabin in NW Ontario too. Love them, only have to clean out ashes a few times a year. You can really load them up with wood, way more than any front loader. Mine are Naden brand. Naden made boats and stoves out of Vermilion Bay Ont. for years. They had a US patten as well but I can’t remember the name off hand. Not sure if yours is a Naden, I’ve never seen one with 4 vents. I would buy it in a heartbeat, I love the control and volume of wood these stoves hold.

I will have to look now, but think the one I have sitting along side my garage is similar. Been there for years now.. It belonged to my Father in law and he used it to heat his garage. Burned the scrap from bandsaw cuttings made for the wood crafts my wife and her mother made. If I recall it has just 2 vents on top..I don't know where he got that stove. Think he bought it new though would have been early to mid 1990s..
Now you got me wondering what I got??

Unless it has grates in the bottom, it’s doubtful it was meant to burn coal.
