"New" to me. 1917 Winchester 30-06 with the flaming bomb and star in a circle stamp on the barrel. Built for WWI when Springfield and Rock Island couldn't keep up with production, is what my research has led me to learn. Can anyone tell me the meaning of the flaming bomb and star in the circle? Couldn't seem to find info on that part. In any case, she fires rounds good and will be used as an elk and moose rifle, once I get some glass on her and sighted in.

Never seen one but appears to be built the way rifles are supposed to be made!

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Wild_Idaho- Some interesting information about that rifle can be found at- https://www.gunvaluesboard.com/1917-30-06-518608.html Check out the different markings on various modifications made to the rifles.

EDIT: Post #8 on the referenced thread may explain the star stamp.
