In the recent trappers post Mike has an excellent article on making a liquid bait. He states he uses beaver carcasses that have been boned and fills the bucket half full and adds 3 gallons of water. My question is, if I use just plain meat scraps and not boned carcasses, would I still add the same amount of water?

To the beaver meat/water mix add 2 ounces of muskrat glands, one beaver liver, 2 ounces of beaver castor, 10 drops of tonquin, age for 6 months.

I've never made it, but it's in Dave Edward's journals, and I'm only relaying what he wrote. He said it was a great liquid bait. With those added ingredients, it's probably more like a lure.

I don't know that being un-boned will be different. Give it a try and let the critters critique your concoction.
