I am trying to get my first bird this year. Once again (like deer season) the property I have easy access to is marginal, but birds do frequent it. Got me some decoys and determination LOL. Only been turkey hunting twice...maybe 3rd time's the charm. Been watching the hunting public on youtube for 2 weeks now so the wife is already sick of turkey hunting LOL Matt Dale (Dale Outdoors) does a better job of actual instruction on youtube than THP or Dave Owens, IMO. Maybe check him out if you are learning. I think I’m heading into my 32nd yr of chasing longbeards...and I’m ready. I got crazy this year and added an XF choke and a red dot reflex sight from Swampfox to the “meat stick”....actually pretty silly to add them when you can’t recall the last bird shot over 30yrds. LOL. I put a FFIII on my gun a few years ago and love it. This is only my 11th season, but I’m obsessed. I STILL have to remind myself to breath and keep my head down!! Luckily I’m a lot better with a reflex sight! Turkeys just tear me up inside, so much so I can’t even remember to breathe, lol!!

My very first Osceola killed 03/10/15 on a quota hunt down South. My buddy and I were hunting two different areas and he had to drop me off at 0330 so I could make the 2.7 miles hike back to where this bird had roosted. I was watching the bird on the limb of a big pine by 0515. I got to watch him wake up and stretch when some hogs came through real early, then he hunkered back down to sleep. Just as the sky was beginning to turn pink he started stirring again and would go in and out of strut long before he ever let out his first gobble on the morning. As it got lighter and the gobbling intensified he started limb hopping down a limb every few gobbles. Once the hens behind me started talking he took his last flight from that tall pine...the rest is a whole other story.

I think I will like the sight. Small, light, quick. If you ever lose the quick breathing, high heart rate, non-functioning brain.....I'd give it up. LOL.
