Is there a bend or whack with a hammer that will spread 110 springs a bit to make them a little faster and stronger besides taking spring off and spreading? I have some that are fine for rats or bottom edge sets but I don’t like picking through weaker ones on the line. I see piles of weak ones at meets. I guess the bigger 5x5 replaced some of them.

Once you figure the correct way to twist open the spring eye with a vice it's about one minute to open one end pull off that end, spread the springs wide as you can & re-install them. You don't have to completely remove it from both ends. I know of no other way to make them stronger.

Opening the eye by bending the arms back is a temporary solution, but it works.
Best solution is a new spring.Only takes a couple minutes to change them out.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I agree. Like bending open long springs over a pipe, temporary fix. Sometime VERY temporary.

If your using those 110s under water why worry about the spring strength.

Add a secong spring and turn them into 120's a more versatile and usefull trap.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.
