Who knows what? I'm looking to get one to haul my zero turn down to my mothers home to cut the grass once a week. It's 1.5 hours one way and highway speeds. Most of the ones I see at Lowes, Home Depot and Tractor Supply have crap reviews with pictures of broken welds, worn out bearings and busted axels. Has to be 6' wide and at least 8' long. And good brand names that won't break the bank? I would like to stay around a grand.

I BELIEVE IN MY GOD, MY COUNTRY AND IN MYSELF.

I dont know brand names up your way but Lamar, big tex, and friezen trailers all make good single axel trailers just like you describe. A grand is going to be cutting it close. Steel is going up again and trailer companies are struggling for material. I bet you pay close to 13 or 14 hundred now or maybe a tad more. If a grand is the budget then maybe a used trailer might be a better way to go.

The main reason that you see those trailers with cracked welds and broken axles is that people are trying to do tandem axle trailers work with a single axle trailer. If all you haul on it is the weight of that mower, the tractor supply brand will do you just fine and you don't have the extra wear of things like breaks to worry about. Now if you think you can haul a couple of pallets of ready mix cement and a palled of blocks, you will break things as that is not what they are made for. My neighbor has one of the tractor supply trailers and does exactly what you want to do plus hauls his side by side to where he hunts and he does fine with it. When heavier stuff need moving, we use my flat bed tandem axle trailer.

I bought a cheap one from Lowe's and regretted it. I should've paid for this in the beginning. [Linked Image]

high way speeds , look for full size tires and bearings

my trailer is 6 foot wide and 14 long , it is a no name welded up on the Sothern ILL and MO boarder a co-worker brought 3 back and sold them

I have had mine 17 years

I would make the argument go bigger than you need it is really nice to be able to take it to pick up a new 16 foot garage door or 16 foot lumber

I have in the past 17 years replaced the deck it does sit outside , upgraded the wheels and tires it had come with used tires on 15 inch chevy rims I went through a couple sets of used tires before buying new rims and tires

lights , I think I have replaced the wiring and lights 3 times some of that was me , logs hitting a light and such

I haul more firewood than anything else and I frequently take it to or beyond weight capacity very easy to do on a single axil.

To myself I always try to go about a trailer like I would a new barn. Whatever I think I need I double it and I have yet to regret that.

The trailers I see at the big box stores are fit for hauling house plants and light loads only no matter how much deck space they offer

The best trailers for the price IMO are not national brands, but small regional brands from local fabrication shops. Surely there's a trailer dealer or two near you? At least take a look; the price comparison for what you get might surprise you. I'd rather have an over-built trailer than an under-built one. Remember, the big box store chains negotiate down to the penny on supply contracts. Local dealers are more concerned with quality.

yes and I wouldn't rule out used with your skills , if you find a trailer in good shape , make a couple repairs and new tires you might better hit your budget

if you found one with a soft deck , yes lumber is expensive right now but if you stain it good then install you can make it last a while and they often are not hard at all to replace.

Not always. I have a friend that bought a 16' dump with 4' side walls. Worse welding and design I have ever saw. The lugs the hydraulic cylinders connected to under the bed ripped off like a sardine can top rolling back. No penetration on the weld. Of course it was only notice when I borrowed it. So I cut all ther original junk out redesigned and wielded the new in. There will never be a problem with it again.

1.5 hrs each way to mow 3 round trip + mowing time? I think I would just pay for a lawn service in here area to mow it for me. It would be cheaper.

I've noticed lots of regional brands from surfing the web. When you find a make with the features you like invariably its on the other side of the country.
Which leads to the question, shipping or custom?
