Got rid of mine about one year ago. Wish I still had it. People think because you have one if they call you you should immediately respond. Use to come home from work make my phone call or two for the day and that was it. Then came the answering machine, come home play the machine and filter threw who you wanted to talk to. I liked that the most. I have the cheap Trac phone now and do like it to interact on this forum because I don't have a home computer. I also like the convenience of a built-in camera

Do not have one. Saved us a pile of money on something they charged us for we never used. We cut that off about 10 years ago and best thing we did. We were only getting calls from political and solicitors on it by then. Family and close friends only called us on our cell phones anyway. Cell phones only now and no land line charges. Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

We got rid of ours years ago, no one called on it anymore other then scams, even my customers called me direct on the cell. For business it was a big time saver, and I could schedule my day better then going home, listening to messages and trying to figure out how to take care of things. It's also good for emergencies in the field or on the boat, hard not to get attached to these conveniences, lol. Yes it also makes life more hectic at times, and a landline will usually still work in power outages, if the sun explodes or aliens attack... ... The money saved was a bonus...LOL

Yes I do and for a number of reasons.
but I could start with let me tell you how many times the wife and kids cell phones don't work , not even in the house.
then sometimes they do work but the audio quality is so horrible.
my phone sometimes won't even work in the house and I can see the towers if I step outside and look when the trees are not full in leaves
I have fire extinguishers , smoke detectors and many other tools of safety and emergency available
the land line that transmits my address to 911 is just part of these tools.
I have 2 and I could see going down to one , although I get stipend by work to have 2 lines if that ends I might drop it.
my parents dropped theirs my brother doesn't have one , right now the cost isn't out weighing the benefits and I have to have a line to have my internet so one will stay.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

A few years ago there was some sort of bleed over from the copper wires in the post and if my sister in law next door made or received a call I could hear her conversation clearly. She couldn't hear me though.
One day she was telling a friend that she wished she had some wine in the house and that she just loved to drink wine every day. Later that day I went over and told her I was concerned about how much wine she was drinking and that I knew she liked to drink wine daily. She looked like she had seen a ghost!
So yeah, I like my land line....where do you get free entertainment like that?

My wife is after me to get rid of our home's telephone landline, since we both have cell phones.
It makes me feel uncomfortable to give up something I was raised with. I was lost for several years after they got rid of phone books. (I ran out of things to rip in half.) I remember party-lines, but barely.
On the other hand, I just realized that all we seem to get on our landline anymore are junk calls or scams.
Have you kept your landline? If so, why?
Jim Still have mine. It's a rotary phone to boot. JK !!! Actually, mine is a wall phone with push buttons. I am the last Techno-phobe. A dinosaur. No Cell phone. No T.V. No smart phone. No I-pad. Why ? I am a Contrarian !!!! But I am not a slave to a device. I do have a lap top, and the internet. walleyed

I have both a landline and a cell phone. We keep our landline in case someone wants to reach us after business hours. I don't want to give them my cell phone number. We have a block on spam that seems to work quite well on our landline. We haven't had a spam call on our landline in months. I get them all on my cell phone even though I supposedly have a block on that phone. It usually says spam or telemarketer, though. So, I ignore those calls.
I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

We went to cell only 15 years ago. We saved a lot of money because every call we made was long distance. We got rid of two bill. The long distance and local phone.
Internet is hot spots on the phones.
Now I have 4 phones. Mine, wife, 19 year old daughter, and one that acts like a home phone and stays in the living room. Thay one is for my young boys 8 and 10 in case of emergencies if they are at home but the rest of us are out on the farm but not in the house.
Edit: make that 5 cells. The 5th is experimental. Trying a new company with cheaper rates to see how it works before switching over all the lines.
