We have a couple of them. I told the admiral to burn all them egg cartons we have saved as it says " late white" on them and we don't have chickens that lay white eggs.

There a pretty durable chicken, they do well in the winter up here and when people come down from the city the always buy the green eggs first.

My ol' Poultry Science prof used to remind us that it's not the color of the shell but what the bird has been eating that makes the egg. Free ranging chickens will have double or triple the omega 3's.

My experience with easter eggers is that they do lay beautiful and healthy eggs, they will stop laying when it gets real hot and real cold. We keep a few white and silver leghorns around to keep egg production through the year.
This year we ordered cream legbars(blue egg), silver leghorns(white egg), and welsummers(dark brown egg). Hopefully some time this fall they may start laying a little.

Current flock has about 20% easter eggers or olive eggers. Key points......
1. Small to no combs, so no worry about frostbite in cold regions.
2. They are more flighty / skittish than any others.....can and will fly over fences others won't. Will be the one's acting crazy in close quarters inside the house. They will also be the first ones to go to roost. 10 t0 15 minutes before anyone else. They get in their corner and stay there.
3. They are lowest birds in pecking order. Everybody else kicks the crap out of them.
4. Lay more than others, and yolks are about 10% to 15% larger than any others. Neighbors have only 4 birds left. I gather their eggs when they are traveling. Only one easter egger, but out of a dozen eggs, 4 to 5 of them will be blue. All same age.

Of the ones that are laying right now we only have one that drops a blue egg. Little white bantam with with a puffy head. We either hatched them or got them as peeps so they get handled quite a bit so most are friendly. Sometimes too friendly, such as when you are taking some scratch out for them. I have to drag my feet so I don't step on any of them. Have to be careful leaving the door open or we might have chickens wandering around the house.
I am sure we are well over 50 by now. Gonna take a stab, but I bet 10-15 of them are gonna be dinner. My wife went a little crazy hatching them this year. If I had known this I would have made a bigger chicken coup.
Right now we have 5 mature roosters. One big black one (fo hawk), one little white bantam (butter), one that is part dominique part big black rooster (mumble), one dominique (buddy) and a little silky (black knight). Yup, kids named them. Except buddy. I named him. He follows me everywhere.

We mix our eggs for sale so the cartons are colorful. Blue green, tan through dark brown speckled. We like a colorful variety as well.
Eh...wot?
