Charred on the outside, pink in the middle. Easier said than done. But when you nail it you’ll know it. Looks good.

Magus you ever used a pellet grill? If not you need to forget EVERYTHING you ever learned about gas grilling and start over . First of all the quality of the steak plays a big part in tenderness. Second I would say 99.9% have NEVER ever timed a steak burger or anything in their lives on a grill Pellet grills are like baking UNTIL I open the sear plate ! The temp on your gas or charcoal is probably 1500 degrees right against the steak . Charcoal burns at 2000 degrees. The pellet grill has a heat deflection shield so it cooks around it keeping the juices inside. But I top off the seared surface last Trust me I cook on this thing EVERY night unless it’s raining or in gone . Did I mess up a few meats learning? Yes but until you have sank your teeth into ANYTHING I’ve cooked lately like all my friends and family have just watch with jealousy

I totally agree with ADC nothing like charcoal to get a good sear I have had a lot of grills including Trager they just don't get hot enough. Trager and gas grills are more like boiled steaks they do good for smoking but not grilling steaks. Buddy of mine has one of those over priced tragers and after a ribeye he ate cooked on my pit boss with mesquite pellets he sold it got a pit boss next day !!!

Got these going can’t wait!! My guess is, you get the big one, the wife gets the small one. That's how it works at my house. Ever notice how one side of the Tbone is more tender than the other side?
I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

Nope you boys are wrong ! Just slide the door open and sear away ! This grill beats anything I’ve ever cooked on 10 minutes at 300 each side crank it to 400 open sear door and 5 minutes Medium and cut it with fork ! No no cutting required just pulled off in bite size pieces! Ruin a steak for TWENTY FIVE MINUTES on a grill,,and my Beagle wont even eat it.Charcoal or hardwood only,,and three minutes on each side max. You Kintuck boyz best stick with grillin raccoons.

Just read all the posts. The difference is WHAT TYPE of grill you are using. Yes 3 minutes if your grilling on 2000 degree charcoal !!

I bet any of you die hard steak on the charcoal guys would gobble up one of my steaks on the pellet grill. Then ask if there was more !!! But if you don't I'm happy for your loss!!! More for me and my family ! 3 Minutes that ALL? Heck just eat it raw. Is that timed 3 minutes? I doubt anyone times a steak if they have no ideal how hot the heat is . Like I said before IF you actually timed something rather than just looking at it , it will surprise you how long you really cook something. I know how long because I don't raise the lid until time to turn. Trial and error. PLUS as for saying hard wood only what do you think the wood pellets are made from.

I find my traeger doesn't do well at searing steaks . It only reaches 400 degrees
The little Pitt boss I use for camping does much better at 500 degrees

what do you think the wood pellets are made from. Sawdust and glue. Yea the ones you heat with but food grade have NO binders or glue. Food-grade pellets, on the other hand, have been made from leftover wood materials. This can be wood chips, sawdust, sticks and lumber mill scrap for example. Therefore, all the materials used to make food-grade pellets are 100% natural and do not contain any binding agents which risk causing any health issues when smoked. These pellets are therefore safe to cook with and smoke as the fumes will not harm your health or your meal.
