It's what is supposed to govern the government

It lays the foundation for how the federal government should operate. It isn't the government itself, though.

So when someone pledges loyalty to the government of the United States it’s not the constitution they are pledging loyalty to?

Who pledges loyalty to the government, as opposed to pledging loyalty to the constitution?

Pretty sure I quoted this:
“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."
Don’t see anything about the government.

What happens though when the second half of the pledge quoted is in direct conflict with the first? Ponder that one while we try and figure who will fall on who’s side when the time comes. Serious question I have, not meant to flame or make anyone offended.

That’s where the Uniform Code of Military Justice comes into play.

The parts I am most concerned about are designed to limit the government.

Take a look at what has happened so far . Doesn't that answer your question?

“.......loyalty to the government of the United States, a government of the people, by the people and for the people....”

How would you take that?

'The Document' not any existing government.

Pretty simple....but some common sense is needed which is why many folks are confused.

I'd say recent FBI directors, campaign oversight chairmen, and a few LEOs hot to enforce red flag laws but stand by while vandals burn and pillage. There are probably more but those are the most obvious examples
