we did a lot of home school experiments , none of them quite looked like that

the biggest expariment being home schooling it's self

could you not send the kids back to 1st and 2nd grade and have 7 years of really cool learning not in a class room and send them back in 7th 8th grade

yes and they can be A students not at all behind , who know how to learn much better than their peers but you got 7 years of cool life learning with them.

I know a kid who was home schooled until 6th grade. Then he took 7th and 8th grade years off and just trapped and goofed around. He then went on to public high school, then college where he took between 32 and 40 credit hours then on to med school after a couple of years. He's doing just fine.

I was home schooled. I got a better education than most of my peers, but I was still trying to figure out how to socialize and make friends well into my 20's.

Headache and Waggler those are both awesome.

Weatherby, that's always the argument against homeschool. I was homeschooled, then private school, then went to public high school. I think that gave me a good balance and enabled socialization. My kids will probably do similar.

My baby brother was homeschooled. Went to a private high school and they wanted to bump him up a grade. He refused, wanted to graduate with his friends. He graduated High school with a 4.0 then graduated college with a 4.0. He’s doing quite well.

Nothing wrong with home schooling -- both of my kids were partially home schooled. It definitely has it's challenges but can be done very well (or very poorly). We home schooled my son through Jr. High and sent him back for High school, that fit his needs. That was the same intent with my daughter, but after one term back in ninth grade we realized it wasn't working (so did she). Both are doing well and not quite as brain-washed as the vast majority. My son has choosen a career in trucking, and my daughter will be graduating shortly with a degree from osu in mechanical engineering. Different paths -- different kids. Proud of them both.

I have experienced two types of parents who home school. One type of parent home schools in order to try to protect their kid from the world. The other parents seeks to provide a better and more objective education.

The kids from the first type often have problems later on. However, I don't believe that it's because those kids don't learn to socialize as some people might suspect, it's just that their parents are a little whacked-out in the first place.

Kids don't need to be around kids in order to learn how to socialize. Kids best learn how to act like adults by being around responsible, well adjusted adults.
