Bought a pickup in Wickenburg Arizona and was traveling back to Washington. Just south of Ely looked so good for cats fox and coyotes with all the boulders and junipers. Anybody trap that area?

Nope, but I lion hunted it years ago. Couldn't keep the dogs off of bobcats.

Trapped the Wickenburg area for a couple years back in the late 70s cats, greys, yotes and ringtails, a greasewood desert with mountains of rocks in some places. The amount of wildlife was amazing way more then what I expected to see in a “desert” quail, jackrabbits, cotton tails, mule deer and collared peccary.

Who was the lure maker that was out of Ely years back anyone remember his name?

You are probably thinking of Wiley Carrol. World famous lion hunter and trapper. Used to write for The Trapper magazine, wrote a monthly column called "P.O. Box 104".

It gets trapped . Probably more trappers, ( per capita) than most places in the country. The cats, imho, are usually a notch above “commercial”.

I know I'm late to the thread but there's some Pioche trappers that like to travel while they trap, they usually catch 100+ cats per season and I'm sure they hit the Ely area. Nevada is full of bobcats.
