Looks like at the tunnels on the road from Shoshoni to Thermopolis.

It's south of Thermopolis , there's a chance that you may see Bighorn sheep it that area but don't try finding them while your driving it's a windy bugger of a road ha ha

Independence Rock is right beside the Sweetwater, about 100 miles east of the Wind River. Yeah you're right. Getting my Wyoming rivers mixed up.

So did the river naturally run through a tunnel or did man re-route through a man mad tunnel? The tunnel you're seeing is the highway, there are 3 tunnels right there,, the river runs through the canyon and doesn't go through any tunnels, but right next to the highway.

The river is re-named to the Big Horn River at the other end of the canyon.
