Change the water several times when they are in the fridge so all their waste does not foul the water. The fridge will slow down their development or they will spawn out and be nothing by June. Because they spread the seeds from Purple Loosestrife we can not transport them in Manitoba.
Ribbon leeches are the best bait I have ever found for catfish in the rivers and creeks in the local area. I used to buy 3 pounds from Jewell outdoors in La Crosse, Wisconsin each spring. I just checked and it looks like they are no longer in business. However, a Google search reveals that they are still available from various locations “up North”. They sure aren’t cheap, but very effective.
Health problems have prevented me from walking long distances, so I don’t order them any more.
