Watched a quick how-to video, 10 minutes to make the trap and left it overnite in a dugout.

Well, we're going fishing in June and we usually pick some up on the way but I've been hearing they're hard to come by this year so....

Change the water several times when they are in the fridge so all their waste does not foul the water.
The fridge will slow down their development or they will spawn out and be nothing by June.
Because they spread the seeds from Purple Loosestrife we can not transport them in Manitoba.

All I had at the moment was a pork chop bone and some hamburger meat. I put them in together. Actually I was expecting the pan to be empty!

Ribbon leeches are the best bait I have ever found for catfish in the rivers and creeks in the local area. I used to buy 3 pounds from Jewell outdoors in La Crosse, Wisconsin each spring. I just checked and it looks like they are no longer in business. However, a Google search reveals that they are still available from various locations “up North”. They sure aren’t cheap, but very effective.

Health problems have prevented me from walking long distances, so I don’t order them any more.

Well, maybe that's why leeches are so expensive these days. Obviously, they have lost their taste for cheap beef liver.

ribbon leeches are trapped using meat bait around here. never heard of anyone using anything else. your leeches appear to be ribbon leeches.

Used to catch a lot of walleye in Wisconsin using liver in a can caught leeches.
