Bob, it's likely cheaper to just get new buckets. You can usually buy massive numbers of buckets for 25 cents each to $1.00 each on Craigslist and Marketplace.

Dozens have rusted badly from corrosion and very concerned there will be accidents while carrying them.

Got it, I had some that lost the plastic grip part I was wondering if that was the problem. A little gas hose piece makes for a nice handle.

The grips I can replace as needed if necessary so they dont cut into your hands. Those rusty ends where they attach into the side of the bucket are an accident ready to happen.

Guess I need to upgrade and buy a 100 or so and pitch the old ones. Hard to loose that frugal habit I suppose.

I did find some good clean buckets and lids advertised on our local Craigs list. Just waiting for a call back.

Thank you Keith for that suggestion. I dont use those on line places much so I didnt even think of it.

I thought this was gonna be about those plastic handles on a lot of buckets nowdays. Talk about an accident waiting....you don't have to wait long! I've had some doozys! Good luck. If you had time to kill, you could bend some up yourself out of 3/16 inch cold roll. Once you got it figured out, would prolly not be that bad!

We can't use any containers with residual odors such as types of brines and vinegars. That odor just permeates even plastic and is near impossible to cleanse the odor out completely.

Have had many opportunities to get those buckets and jars just can't use them to take that chance. That sure could make for some interesting final product odor that was stored in them for a few years.

MMMMMMM maybe a new silver bullet??

Dad always thought the pickle buckets he used to get gave the minnows an extra boost.

Find someone in the railway because they send the new spikes out in 4 gallon metal buckets.
Metal buckets the handles are burled into the washer then spot welded to the side of the bucket so hard to replicate.

Rope and a washer as the slot holder for replacement handles.

What we consider plastic as a barrier and odour penetration into it is quite something we overlook.

Many times the manufacturing plastic pail companys have whole runs that they can not re-chip and use so they disposal of 1000's at a time, best check with them. You do have to take whole pallets stacked high then. Saves them the disposal fees at the dump.
