For me at least. Just over 30 ft up by my calculation. Getting ready to paint the house this weekend and rented a boom lift to do it. The thing is terrifying. Heights aren't for me.

Got a lot of house to piant, so I'm gonna have to get used to it over the next few days I guess

That's the plan for tomorrow. I'll cut squares out of some extra 5/8 subfloor plywood I have.

Forget the paint! New windows and siding are in order!
Swing that boom fast and stop it suddenly so it tips up on two legs. It's a blast. The kids will enjoy the rides!

Good deal use two each. You usually don’t get a second chance from that height. Hate to see ya break your neck.

LOL! That's my life every day.

2 things: 1) Pad the outriggers like cmcf said. And 2) Wear a harness and hook off to the point in the basket. You'll be as safe as being in your mother's arms.

After this you'll be ready for a 125 footer.

Those tow behind lifts are great. Jump up and down and it's kind of like a trampoline. I'd say the painting is a little overdue...

I occasionally have to use them to inspect high church roofs or the top of grain bins and although I don't enjoy it I do harness up.

Oh and one tip- make sure you pee b4 you start heading up- don't ask me how I know LOL

Ok unless your climbing up on the cage why harness. IF it tips over it will crush you. IF you time it right and it tips start running at the right moment and you will just run REALLY fast for a few yards. LOL

OHSA reg. You must be tied in ( harnessed/fall arrest gear ) if over 42" off the floor/ground. Take your safety seriously. It is your life. I operated a 86' ( Condor brand ) self-propelled one every day for 16 years. ' pogoing' out if the safety cage when moving quickly and hitting/bouncing is something that happens a lot. You can come out of the safety cage , it can happen in an instant. I would never go up in one of these without proper fall arrest gear. Even in my own machine , I wear a harness.

For those of you who work on the ground if anything goes slightly wrong on the ground- say a small movement it translates to a huge movement up at the top of a boom. Because there are never any guarantees I go ahead and rope off

I like my scaffolding. Those lifts are death traps, I won’t get on one. Be careful goose.

The thing didn't come with a harness, but I'll see what I can do about getting one, even if have to get something from the hardware.store. Got a bunch painted today, and it's still pretty terrifying at the top.

Be aware of your fingers on the top of the basket when moving/swinging. It's easy to get close to the house and get them smashed or cut off. Not as bad in a rented towable becuse they are often turned down and don't move very fast but still something to be aware of.

7 years of union Iron working. Saw a few guys become crippled up like that.

This is why... A self-retracting lanyard ("yo-yo") is best.

I love doing inspections high off of the ground if for no other reasons than I get great views and I git to leave the worlds idiots down below me.

Have fun and be safe Goose
