Just curious what others do to deal with cross eye dominant when shooting a shotgun. I have always closed one eye, but that limits your view. I thought about buying a filter for my glasses and I know it’s also possible to train yourself to shoot left handed. I tried shooting left handed with my over under and felt really awkward, I believe it will take a lot of practice for me.

The best way to deal with it would be to learn to shoot left handed. You could put a piece of scotch tape on the lens to keep that eye from being the dominant one.
I am a south paw with no dominant eye. I can shoot left or right handed. I started doing this in my early teens. I was a better shot than the guys that came out to the swamp to shoot birds so they made me shoot right handed. Didn't take long and I was just as good right handed.

Great story about Ohmer Webb, ebsurveyor. I enjoy trap shooting and pheasant hunting, but if I ever decide to shoot sporting clays, it would be tough with one eyed closed. I will keep practicing mounting my shotgun left handed, it will hopefully come naturally in time.

So if you do the dominant eye test, they both see the same or neither see’s anything? Are you cross eyed?

Work hard on learning to shoot from the dominant side. Tough at first but worth it later.

A shooting instructor who assumed I might be cross-eye dominant placed a square of scotch tape on the left lens of my glasses. It clouded the vision from my left eye but did not eliminate vision from that eye.
Give it a try if you wear glasses.

I’m left eye dominant and shoot left handed. Even had to learn to shoot pool that way. Never could learn to use a pistol that way though.
Looks like he needs another year;-)

They make stocks that go on the right shoulder but curve over to the left eye alignment but they are not cheap, eye patch or blackout the left eye is also popular.

So if you do the dominant eye test, they both see the same or neither see’s anything? Are you cross eyed? Not sure which test you are talking about. If I do the triangle test the object that I am looking at is in the middle with the two open triangles to either side of it. If I point at and object with either hand, the object is between the two fingers. When I mount a shotgun with either hand I am looking down the barrel, not down the side. Scopes can get a little tricky sometimes. Once in awhile the eye that is not looking through the scope with will start to take over. Not sure how I do it but I just focus with the eye that is looking through the scope and all is better. No, not cross eyed.

Give it a try if you wear glasses. X2. It does really help. But of course the best answer is to shoot lefty.
