Hoping to head out west this fall for elk and bear! Bear results appear to be up and I got my rifle bear tag! Now just crossing fingers for muzzleloader elk sometime the next couple days. We hunted in 2017 and didn't end up harvesting but had a great shot at one, learned a lot, and had a great time.Anyone else planning to hunt CO this fall? Happy trapping! ScottW

Only if i luck out and draw a moose tag. Bought points for elk and deer this year. I did draw an oryx tag in New Mexico on the White sands missile range so i do have that for sure. Struck out everywhere else so far. Good luck on the elk tag.

Yeah, ya never know on those super special ones like moose....at least in the places where it's pretty much a straight lottery. Someday I'll apply for some of them.....just not right now! With the numbers I've been reading point creep ought to be crazy this year.

We have a group of 4 for elk, and one guy has a nice pile of points and will surely draw, but the other 3 of us only have one and I'm just hoping we end up with at least two tags.

Oryx sounds like fun, never heard of them until I started listening to some hunting podcasts recently! You done that hunt before?

Happy trapping! ScottW

I have not hunted oryx before. The on range oryx is a once in a lifetime tag whether you are successful or not. You can hunt broken horn or off range oryx more than once if you wish. From what i have heard they're meat is supposed to be great so really looking forward to that also.

I was going to put in for Colorado elk but my area burned up last year. Maybe next year. Good luck

I will hunt OTC 2nd rifle for elk and should draw a deer tag too. I will probably pick up an OTC bear tag also. We have saw sign every year and I had a choclate phase run by me at 80 yards 2 years ago but had no tag.

Two years ago we had 2 1/2 feet of snow and sub zero temps. Last year we had a foot of snow and -15 temps with a burn ban so no woodstoves. This year the season comes in a week later. Contemplating bringing the snowmobile.

I'll be out there 9/6-9/20 with an OTC archery tag. Not sure if I'll buy a bear tag or not. Had a small one walk by at 30 yards last time I was out there. I don't know why but bears have never been an animal that makes my heart pump.

Colorado is hitting cards for deer tags right now. Man are they slow giving out draw results!! I guess they like to DRAW it out. Lol

Jinxed myself I suppose. No deer tags in our group of 6. Didn't take any points last year and this year we didn't draw with 1. Hopefully we can get some cow tags.

Yeeeha! At least two of our group of four got bull elk muzzy tags and rifle bear tags, other two haven't looked yet! I've already been planning, scouting, but now I can really crank it up! I think I'm also gonna look for a decent cheaper rangefinder and put Williams open sights on my muzzy. They say one often gets more joy out of the preparation for fun rather than during the time itself and in the case of preparing for a big hunting trip I might just agree!

Of course didn't have a deer tag last time and 3 dandy's came right past me! Likely to happen again.

We could have shot 3 bears in 2017 but didn't buy tags, but now with the reduced price we bit the bullet. That was a really dry year out there so I think that helped the bear movement.

Good luck to everyone else! Happy trapping! ScottW
