I’m in search of feral pigeons for dog training in the Maryland area if anyone can point me in the direction it would be greatly appreciated

I see em congregated at every sale barn, feed store, or back grounding yard I go in. Some where close by I assured you there is a manager with an ol boy like you would ask permission to trap his population down. I'd bet if you meet a few ppl keeping livestock they can point you in the right direction

Nighttime raids work the best block the exits if you can and keep it as dark as you can. Catch them in fishing nets and a bag or box to load them in. We did not need them alive for cat cage bait so we used air rifles. Some guys even get them under bridges at night..

As kids we used to do this in old barns and silos only we would use strong flash lights and hold it on them while they flew around. Much like turning on the lights in the middle of the night, it takes a bit for your eyes to adjust. Meanwhile they lose altitude and land right in front of you. We would simply grab them and stuff them in a bag. We would hit several farms a night and designated the pigeon population in just every short time. The farmers where very grateful to say the least.


Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.
