If you don't mind scratching it up, go ahead. If it were me, I'd try to ruin that stove asap so I could get a gas stove. X 2

We have a glass top and only own cast iron pans. They get slid around all the time and there isn't a scratch on the glass top. You my be able to scratch glass with a broke piece of cast iron with a edge, but not with a fry pan from what I have seen. The first day we got the stove my wife was cooking with cast iron on it.

If you can't get it scratched up with cast iron pans, try a hammer.

For the record, I had a glass top for many years. We moved and now use a gas stove. I can't believe l suffered so long with that glass top! Cooking is much more efficient with gas. Much faster heating up and regulating the heat. I'll never go back to electric, if I can help it!

Can I use my cast iron cookware on a glass top stove? Mostly I just want to use my skillets. Wife says NOOO! But I’m thinking I have heard it can be done. Anyone have first hand experience? I do all the time. French fry in my dutch oven too on the glass top. I slide them on the top too..

If the cast iron pan is perfectly flat on the bottom, go for it. If it has a ring around the bottom that holds it up a 1/16" or so off the glass then they don't cook so well. You need the flat bottom sitting right on the glass to get good heat transfer. We use fry pans and Dutch oven regularly. As others have said just don't go sliding it around, pick it up to move it and what ever you do don't drop the cast iron lid on the stove top.

Much faster heating up and regulating the heat. I'll never go back to electric, if I can help it! I have a gas stove at home and love it. I have an electric stove at camp and hate it. There is a glass top/electric stove at a customers house where I spend the winter in New Jersey and I hate that as well. There is nothing better than cooking with gas. Watch any cooking show, you never see the better chefs cooking with anything but gas.
