First of all let me start by saying I'm not against people going on vacation, or camping, or going just for a sightseeing trip. But for holy crap take your trash home with you.
Background: We have to travel across federal forrest property, about 1/4 mile to get to our home. We have to pay a yearly fee to travel the road and are required to maintain it.

On friday evening I noticed that a couple of families was camping on Forrest land, and there vehicles were blocking the access road. Drove the ATV down and they were cutting down a live maple for campfire wood. Explained to him that he was blocking the driveway to my home, and that under federal forrest rules you can't cut live standing trees on Federal Forrest Land, but he could cut dead wood and that the maple more than likely would not burn for a camp fire. Seemed like a nice guy, moved there cars and I found him a dead tree he could limb and cut up.
This AM went to church and noticed smoke coming from the camping area they was using, but no vehicles. Camp fire was still burning, and the
had packed up and left, the place looked like a city dump, trash and empty beer cars and bottles everywhere. Didn't make it to church, went back to house and got water and a shovel to put out the fire, while the wife started picking up all the trash left behind, 2 garbage bags full (meat wrappers, plastic rings for the beer cans, dirty baby diapers ETC.
Then we had to go to town and the numbers of cans, bottles and trash along the road was pretty disgusting.
So please if your going on vacation, or just out for a drive take your trash with you, I as well as others don't want it. RANT OVER.

Spend 1/2 my turkey hunting time picking up peoples trash they leave in the forest for others to clean up. On the WY side one week a white van was parked in the forest at a random spot the next week their garbage bags were still hanging in a tree along with some other trash. I went to pick it up to take it to a dumpster before the critters had it spread all over.

They left 2 fold up chairs in the bags in their hurry to bug out one was a rocker style, and the wife says I never bring her anything. LOL

They don't get punched in the face for being stupid anymore.

We need to bring some traditions back!

A guy has to wonder what type of fetching up those folks had. When I was a kid my folks always had a pick-up camper and we roamed all over the place, the farther from towns the better. We NEVER left so much as a kleenex at any spot we stayed, whether we we there a single night or 2 weeks. When we left, those camping spots looked manicured.....because they were! My folks always made sure the trash was burned or bagged, and the area was often raked and "tidied up" for the next person. That often involved a stack of firewood piled neatly for who ever was next in line. My Bride and I did the same, as do my adult kids and their spouses as well. There are slobs amongst us though, and their peelings lay scattered along every path known to man.

I hear ya. When we camp it is either on our property or friends property. We do occasionally go other places. When we are out with friends we may get lazy that night when drinking but we always do a clean up in the morning. An even better one before we leave.

I hate seeing garbage just thrown to the side. It is just being lazy. Not that hard to pick up your crap and make the place look nice. Some people just do not care, it is not their back yard. They will not be back again, not for awhile any way.

I agree about reporting them. A fine just might make them think twice the next time they are out. I have always left the place better that when I got there. That should be everyone's goal.

I'm going on my own personal rant right along with you Spade. I have a little dirt road that goes up the crick past my house and on over to the Montana side of the Divide. All summer long we pick trash along the road. The daily tourons leave me with a bad taste in my mouth. On the other hand, the "sportsmen" that use the same area (Forest Service and BLM land above me) for deer and elk hunting are the worst. In early trapping runs up the road, we typically haul out 2 pickup truck loads of garbage from the "hunter's" camps. Every year I just shake my head in disgust at the way the "sportsmen" treat this public land. No respect whatsoever.

Makes me wonder how many homeless types will set up tents on Natl. Forest land and do the same. Though maybe they want to be right in the city anyway.

I would not want anyone trying to enjoy the woods , stumbling on someone like that drugged up.

These were no kids in WY full grown adults seen another guy dumping his brush trimmings along a side road on the SD side he scooted out of there pretty fast when he seen me on the main trail.

90%+ of folks today think the whole world is about them and them alone.....

I live in the Black Hills. Border forest service on the back of my place. There are several large brush piles behind us that are full of town people’s trash. Lawn cleanup and furniture, you name it. People are pigs for sure.

I hate litterbugs, especially the ones that haunt our forest lands.

A 24 hour stint in the stocks is in order. Shame we dont bring back the stocks. Solve a lot problems real quick.

This is what the Illinois people do when they come up to northern wi.

People that have no respect and trash up a place.....their home/yard conditions would likely make you puke.

I wouldn't have given them any indication you lived around there. Say your peace, memorize their License plate #, keep going in the opposite direction like you're just riding through, notify authorities, and wait and find another route home (if possible). . . . my .02 :-)
