Seven freshly molted cicadas and their empty nymph shells.

[Linked Image]

There are now thousands in the area. The noise they make is loud.

Eh...wot?

They are coming out here now also. Should be in full swing if the heat hits here like they're calling for the next week.

Keep them in your area Hippie, I didn't see any yet.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Been in full swing about a week here hippie. Everyday they get a little louder.

I drive twenty miles northeast to Allentown and you don't hear them.

Eh...wot?

We went up Licking Crick today and they were flying into the vehicle. Up in the mountain they are just starting but in the valley they are pretty thick.

Used to see and hear them in FLA.

Tonight, Tucker had a report on them. They gave him a plate of chocolate covered cicadas ...he didn't know that and ate one ahead of time ...lol....he ate another one on live stream and liked it again ... smile

I had chocolate covered grasshoppers years ago in Georgia. They were good !

Like I say- just cover it with chocolate ! grin

It is good to know what you can eat if you need to.

I was just glad they didn't sing at night , when I was in FLA. They can be deafening. Fascinating insects , really. Love those ruby red eyes.

They've been loud for days here. Fish can't resist them.
Just watch those green eyed ones. They do bite a little.

Everything eats them here. My dogs love them. We've been talking about trying some but haven't found a decent recipe.

Eh...wot?

Heard on the radio this past week; if you have shellfish allergies you shouldn’t eat them. Simular enough biologically to cause problems. Some taco stands selling them.

Brother in southern Indiana seasoned and roasted a few. Said they tasted a little buggy, imagine that!

Expecting them in Asheville. Only seen a few and haven’t heard any. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, they say.

Would these even be similar to the locust John The Baptist ate in the wilderness?

None here. Not that I would be able to hear them over the peepers anyway.
