I picked up this awesome Pepsi machine for free a couple days ago. It said it works great, and I've used it in and it gets cold so I'm on the right track. One problem I've found is that the coins just fall straight through to the coin return. Everything inside is plugged in, the coin unit has power (it was full of coins and they all spit out when I pushed the buttons), and it's not set to free vend (yet). I plan on setting it to free vend, so I'm not too concerned about it,but at the same time I'd like it to work properly if I ever want to set it pack to pay vend. Does anyone know anything about these machines, and how I could get the coins to stop falling through?

I fixed a dollar bill acceptor on a machine like that a few years ago at my firehouse. It was rejecting any bills except very crisp new ones. The problem was the tiny 'nip point' belts that drew the bills in were worn and the bills would hesitate just the slightest causing the fake bill photoeye to reject the bill and return it to you. Spent about $12 on new belts and about an hour of my time to fix it.
Sounds almost like a similar problem with your machine with coins. They are being rejected. The coin acceptor looks for fake coins. One thing it has is a magnet and any ferrous metal slugs will get rejected. Under/oversize things get rejected too.
I have very little experience dealing with soda machines but was able to fix the one I did by watching YouTube videos. I became a hero at the firehouse for fixing the machine as it was rejecting bills for years.
Check out YouTube for info and a possible fix. Worked for me. There is also rebuilt coin acceptors available online too , but can get a tad spendy at $150-$300 and up.

Virtually EVERY vending machine's guts are made by NCR, ( National Cash Register), they would likely be able to help with any questions you may have.

I would look for a manual online. I was in charge of the pop machine at work for years. A lot of it is just keeping it clean. One time some genius put coins into the dollar reader which messed up the optical scanner. Most things are a relatively easy fix.
