Son's truck (front passenger's side tire) was making a pulsing grinding sound while driving. Jacked it up turn the tire and this is what happens...

Shafts not much it looks like the struts moving on top? Jack up the wheel put a board under the tire and pull up then see what makes a noise or moves then

Cv shaft is toast, also the extreme angle of being jacked up. If the bearing hub assembly is junk, you will be able to shake the tire from side to side.

My bet is the half shaft with the way it loads up then rotates a bit.

I thought it had to be something in that shaft but I'm no mechanic. Thank you for the help on the diagnosis.

Hope you get it fixed without too much trouble.
And I can't believe Ben is old enough to drive already!

Pop the CV shaft out and rotate it at that extreme angle, you'll know right away if that's the cause.

That works. Another way to check it is to drive the vehicle in a very tight circle slowly with the steering wheel all the way to the lock. First in an extreme left circle then in a extreme right circle. If one of the CV joints are shot you will hear a distinct clunking on one side versus the other.

X3 lol. Jayme, in my life , I've seen far more wheel bearrings go out than half shafts. As long as the rubber isn't torn on a half shaft, I have not seen or heard of one going out. It is possible, but not as probable as a wheel bearing.
