Here in NY junk yards have to have certified scales and they all pay in cash. Rent a tow dolly from u-haul and tow it in.

Do you know how to read Google reviews? Dave? Look @ the reviews of your local scrap yards.
They don't write bad checks. I have seen a certain scrap yard go down hill, but I think the upper management fired the losers and hired some decent people. Because it was a totally different group of people working there last time.

Just got $4 a lb on a thousand lbs of bare bright copper. Been holding it a while…I think it was worth it

It is rotten thru out rust, frame, holes floorboards, everthing , not really safe to run, definately not trust much , it did ok at work 3 days last summer when other truck shop but now need new muffler an pipe an concern if run all that muffler come off pipe an bang around against seep gas tank , strap , 1 is rust bad, everything rust

Coonman most tow truck operators will drive you back home for the same cost, you have to be there to sign over ownership with your registration when you take them in.
don't let them bamboozle you to sign over to the towdriver ( what is the fealing of being FLEECED)

That engine is a aluminium block so worth more @ 25 cents a pound and weighs 300+ pounds

Well I right, I gonna have make arrangements next week have my ins co. Haul metal recycle place across scale, metal went up $20, $180 A ton incomplete , so I just call next place, most reputable place in dbq, north end auto wrecking, half price any parts, the other junk yards, I wouldn't trust at all in town, ask what got an say $100 if u get it here, say if got get it, it free, to get off ur hands, very rude, I was right, so badger or whoever stuck up north end junk yard, I hate that place, I got some junk parts there yrs ago an very rude, half price, junk, didn't work, an no refund an told get lost outvhere when try return

I just try one other local junkyard, wasn't interested, the last I won't call as rember be ripoffs back many yrs ago, just no good places around this area, if u live in cr or wloo or quad city, better deals more decent bigger salvage yards

So you want the same price for a junkyard to come and get your junk truck as someone who hauls or drives their own in? That doesn't make sense. As far as North End goes I've had limited contact with them but I did get a headlight assembly from them 25 years ago for my Dakota and was fine with that.I also went down and pulled it off myself. I've also had a couple used parts put on my vehicles that my mechanic has gotten from them instead of buying new. I've never sold anything to them.

I was giving suggestions in a previous thread when you said all scrapyards around Dubuque write bad checks and don't pay for what they buy. The biggest one down there would be Alter and if I was selling junk that's where I'd go. They have 70 locations and are a multi million dollar business. They're not in the business of writing bad checks. They also would expect you to bring your truck in just like everyone else. You're not special no matter what you think.

Have you called your insurance company yet and asked about getting it towed from your place to the scrapyard? Tell them it's at your house and you want to junk it. If someone on here is in the insurance business maybe they can chime in but I think the coverage is if the vehicle breaks down the insurance will cover a tow to a nearby mechanic. I don't think insurance companies cover towing vehicles owners no longer wanted and wanted to junk out. If yours does you're lucky.

I have never heard of an insurance company hauling a junk vehicle from a residense to a scrap yard unless they paid on the vehicle after an accident. Therefore the insurance company owns it.

Do you not have any friends that have a trailer and the means to help you haul it in? Honestly....I would have never thought to ask my insurance company.

"Recycle place" buys by the pound. A salvage yard buys based on the parts they can salvage and resell. From your description of the vehicle there is nothing left. Most yards I know of and deal with will also dock you if there are no catylitic converters left.

Sorry for your luck. It's not so rough in my world. I have friends I can't count on to help me when I need it. I always offer money for help but usually get told no.
