I reckon that I missed any news on GFW’s oversea’s fur auction from early spring.
I’m sure there would never be numbers and averages shared. Very understandable.
Was just curious if GFW had commented on if fur moved and if buyers were receptive to having a wild fur auction in their backyard.

His auction in Cambodia got canceled. Supposedly the sample bundles of coyotes were in China and they were seized because the raw coyotes aren’t allowed to be imported into China at the present time. Or something like that.

Are raw coyote pelts not allowed in China a temporary COVID related issue or tariff related? When did it start or have raw coyote hides been imported under the table for some time? Finding a different home for processing coyote pelts may have played a factor in the price drops the last sales season or two. There are probably few if any areas that can process a pelt at a lower cost than southeast Asia.

My understanding is that raw pelts coming into China is all about politics. Not sure when or why it started. At the present time, the only raw fur that is allowed into China is muskrat and maybe one other.

Raw pelts go to Cambodia or Laos or Thailand to be dressed. Once they are dressed, getting into China is not a problem.

As with anything political, some times you can get away with doing things that aren’t legal and some times you get caught.

You mean like when you are doing things that aren't legal, but your dad is vice president, and then when you do get caught, by dumb luck, he's president?

The Groney auction being canceled, is the only bright thing that happened in the fur market this last year. He and his china man friend want a monopoly on all fur going into china. If you think he low balls now, wait until he has no competition. I heard he had 80,000 coyotes for that sale. The way it is right now there is a tight bottle neck and all the fur goes down the same drain. That means no competition. It doesn't matter who buys it, the most of it goes the same place.

So if a container of fur gets confiscated by the Chinese guvment, what do you reckon the process would be for the owner to get it back? I bet it would be quite a runaround and a matter of $$$$ would get it back to the owner. That country is as crooked as a barrel full of snakes.

The Russians dont care about dog fur . I have a acquaintance that spent the last 15 years in Russia as a diplomat . He has several mid class garments made of domestic dog . Really beautiful stuff . Looks like it's made from my old husky or malahmute . His high class stuff is seal . If he has any sable I havnt seen it .

If it is illegal to dress k9 fur in china it probably goes back to when Burlington coat factory had to recall a bunch of coats that were trimmed out in dog fur . There was alot of bad press and the Chinese are very sensitive about oriental stereotypes.

He will leave it there, and get his money back from trappers by averaging down his purchases to cover loss.

You could go down town Japan and pick out a live dog for the table or you could buy one already dressed.

I'm sure you can find dog meat served at most any Chinese street market , but there is zero chance that that meat will get exported to the west to be sold to urban yuppies and I doubt it is owned by an American buisiness man that is tring to corner the market .
