City bans plastic grocery bags prior to Corona to save the planet. City re-allows plastic grocery bags during Corona because it's more sanitary. City bans plastic grocery bags after Corona to save the planet.

A coastal community in NC banned plastic about ten years ago. Support for the ban came from retail and citizens. Wind blown plastic liter was almost gone. Politicians from outside of our immediate area got involved and reversed the decision even though the beach community where it applied, supported the ban.
Go figure.

I still remember the old BS that paper bags hurt the planet somehow but plastic was OK then, it was ban the paper bags to save the planet. LOL You can bet the politicians had their fingers in the plastic mfg back then.

Yes, perhaps we should just ban everything that people might discard because it could turn into litter. We certainly can't expect people to dispose of trash or recycle properly can we?

You gotta love those biodegradible plasticy straws they are now providing in the woke resturants. Isn't it reassuring to know that the moment you start to use it the biodegrading begins to occur through the product you are ingesting?

They should just get smart and recycle all these plastic bags into cow diapers and the planet will be saved. Remember that put your bags in the moo-poo bin please. Just look at the great job they did on the gas cans. Once gov gets involved common sense goes out the window.

You should see the unlit roads on the outskirts of the cities in Florida...nothing you will hear about in travel brochures. Tires, furniture, mattresses. It costs money to dispose of it properly!
And what do they expect me to wrap my beaver hides in for freezing if they ban Wallmart bags????????
What you did not stock up with KMart bags when they went out of business ? They were paying 5$ to take a box when they closed the one in Thief River. Saved their disposal fee..

The problem with plastic bags in our beach community was with tourist who left the supermarket, dumped the groceries and beer in their cooler, and tossed the plastic bag on the ground. Winds blew these bags everywhere and liter became expensive and unsightly. For some reason, once the plastic was banned, the problem vanished. Property near shopping areas were the worst. Bags. We’re in the sound and ocean as well as private property. The paper decomposed in the landfills.
