The area is pretty fast paced. You're not in NYC, but you're in Downstate, despite what the locals say....Anyway, you'll be impressed by the size of the Hudson River and some of the views. If you are up north of Poughkeepsie, try the Eveready Diner and save room for pie...If you are going out for pizza, don't go to the Hut or Dominos or any other chain...find a good, local pizza shop and get a NYC style pie. Don't know why, but the closer you get to the city, the better the pizza is...If you are working or hanging outside, watch for deer ticks. I strongly suggest that you spray your clothes with Sawyers or some other tick killer or repellent

Thanks for the info. I do flooring measures for Home Depot. I will be measuring 10-12 homes, condos, businesses, etc. each day for various flooring products. If it's anything like here, I will get to see a fairly extensive amount of real estate but I won't be tramping through any forests or creeks.

I used to be in the Newburg area pretty often going up and down 84. I still remember the first time see/crossing the Hudson. Incredibly beautiful. The whole Hudson Valley is amazing to me.

I hasn't changed. The old Poughkeepsie RR bridge has been turned into a walk-way over the Hudson. Pretty neat.

Well, I've been in New York for about a week now. Interesting area, for sure. I've found folks to be very cordial here and most of the folks I've met aren't drinking the liberal tea. I have measured right at 50 homes so far and 4 of them are selling and moving to Florida. Apparently, the other fella who works this area called in sick on Monday, so I will be busy with his work and mine for the next few days. Neat country around here, I just wish I could stop for 10 minutes and look at it. Lol
