Heading to Wyoming the end of July to visit my son. He asked if we wanted to hike any of the 14,000 footers while we were there. I'm burning my hiking boots in the morning so I don't get any more stupid ideas. Only hiking in my future is with a gun or trapping basket on my back.

Forgot to add that I had lobster prepared every way possible. Whole steamed is still best. Wasn't there long enough to call it lobstah.

Folks from outside of northern new england don't appreciate the difficulty of climbing the mountains there. The elevations reached, 4000 to just over 6000 ft, seems so easy compared to the peaks twice as high in the west. It can be quite misleading but there are reasons why some climbers heading to Nepal train in the White Mtns of NH. One of the differences is that the granite is solid rather than decomposing like the granite in the Rockies. This allows for steeper trails and 1000 ft/mile elevation gain is not uncommon.

Mount Washington's 231 mph wind gust might have something to do with that training. Highest ever recorded on earth.
