Kids all need to grow up the way yours is working with their parents.

My usually best mulberry tree is loaded with watery tasting, low sugar content berries. I have two other trees, out of about a dozen easy to pick trees, that have good berries right now that I'll probably hit hard tomorrow. I have lots of other mulberry trees , but most are to tall to harvest much from.

Keith just spread plastic underneath and let gravity do its thing. That tip was from Rags Bob i believe.

Diane and I shook off exactly 9 1/2 pounds of mulberries this evening. We just rinsed them and are starting to cook them down on the stove top. I've eaten lots of mulberries ever since I was 7, but have never really made anything out of them before. I'm planning to juice these.

Is it best to pull off the stems when making mulberry jam? It seems like to much work.

My first sour cherries of the year are nicely ripe. I'll start picking them tomorrow.

I'm getting a little over 2 quarts of strawberries every 2 to 3 days.

The cicadas finally showed up enmasse yesterday. The birds are gorging on them and nearly leaving the fruit untouched.

Do you make anything with the mulberries Steve?

Keith

Mulberries vary a lot. There's two farms near here that have mulberries that get around 2 inches long. My friend James has a mulberry tree that bares fruit from now through October. I've heard some mulberries can be up to 7 inches long.

I should try to clone the 2 inch long berry trees and the everbearing tree.

I've seen mulberry trees, in large numbers, in Southern Michigan, at some of the running pens and along the roads.

Mulberry trees are hardy to zone 8.

I get large numbers of fox squirrels in my mulberry trees on my farm.

Deer love the leaves and thin branches. They make a very obvious browse line on mulberry trees. There's a nearby field, where the mulberry trees that grow down the fence row look they were manicured by gardeners.

Around here there are a few mulberry trees that hang over a river. When the fruit starts to fall it is a great place to fish for carp and (surprisingly) stocked trout. Also a hotspot to trap snappers.
