Gary Benson OP trapper G Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 21,716 Sandhills Nebraska	A week ago I paid $1700 for a new A/C compressor and condenser....installed. Right away a new noise showed up. The noise increases and decreases with the rpm's as the tranny shifts. Excuse me....transmission.......not tranny. It starts and stops.......doesn't make the noise constantly. Could it be a faulty A/C compressor? It's under warranty, but I'm hoping it isn't the transmission pump. HELP! Life ain't supposed to be easy.

I thought idler pulley but it sounds okay with stethoscope. I'll take it back to the danged shop that did the work. I suspect a bad A/C compressor even though it is new. Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Sounds like the problem is only under load and that is why you can't hear it at idle. Make sure the shop knows this. Yes , it even could be a bad compressor. NRA benefactor member
