Been using McKenzie Ultimate acid and very pleased. Was wondering if anyone has tried the Dixietan paste following the pickling stage. I like the authentic look of the pickling and they’re firm enough to lace without tearing out. Or, anyone know how I can get that “ 70’s roadside Indian Trading Post” smell on them? Thanks

I think the Melby fur conditioner has a nice cherry smell to it. I guess you could always go make some sassafras tea and spray it on the fur later.

I did the dixietan once and the coon hide molded and fell apart inside three weeks lol. Pretty sure the directions didn't have a pickling step or I'd still have the hide.

I have sassafras oil but it would go away after a few days. I just remember the smell on those tanned rabbit hides they sold.
