A friend of mine runs a wedding venue. They hosted a wedding there yesterday between a Christian Slavic girl (I think Russian), and a middle eastern Muslim guy. 200 guests had RSVP'd for the wedding; only 25 people showed up. That wedding ended up costing about $750 per person for those who showed up.

Weddings are the biggest rip off ever invented. Yep, for most it is. I don't know what the wife spent on her dress, but between the walmart rings and food I only had about $300 in our wedding. Helped out a bunch that I cleaned out the machine shed for a venue, cooked some roadkill on the smoker, and the neighbors supplied the drinks. Even with our cheap wedding we have been happily married now for 17 years with no end in sight. Heck of a lot of them folks that spend 10s of thousands on a wedding don't make it more than a few years. SMH

Weddings are the biggest rip off ever invented. In 1976 we got the wedding special at Chapel of the Pines in Circus Circus Casino in Las Vegas. Cost was $ 39.95 including one wedding picture and a bag of complimentary toiletries. We have been married for 45 years. I think we got our money's worth. You just need to comparison shop. LOL

A wedding as a rule is less expensive than a divorce.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Last I heard the average wedding costs about $20 K and that was several years ago. I've always wondered for some if it would be cheaper to do like hunting and fishing license and make it renewable every year. For some you could do like your drivers license and make it every 4 years....but then the divorce lawyers wouldn't go for that.
Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

A wedding as a rule is less expensive than a divorce. Yep, but the cost is equal to one heck of a down payment on a house. Wedding, one day. A house could be for the rest of your life.

Don't forget the Carat rule. The number of weeks that a Woman is Happy, is directly proportional to the number of Carats in the Diamond ring that she gets. The Carat rule stipulates 1 Carat per Week of Happy Wife ! That is 4 Carats for each Month of Wedded Bliss !!!
And remember!!! That 4 Carat Diamond ring ONLY lasts for that ONE MONTH. You have to buy another 4 Carat Diamond Ring for each of the next 11 Months !!! There's a reason she is smiling while she's walking down the isle. I can't say. I would get booted.
No Jab.

Wish I had gone into the wedding, funeral, or baby business. When people spend money emotionally there seems to be no limit.

My original reason for this post was the problem with a Christian woman marrying a Muslim guy; especially since the cultures that both of them come from are so bold and stubborn, and the fact that only about 10% of the planned attendees showed up. To me that indicates huge problems to come; maybe both bride and groom will be able to shrug it off, but I doubt it.
I guess the wedding cost didn't really surprise me at all; nearly every wedding I've been to in recent years has probably cost between $20 and $30K. I thought that was normal. I feel really sorry for these young guys now-a-days; young brides in general seem to think they are entitled to a whole lot of nonsense. Envy and jealously is an ugly (and expensive) sickness.
